HUTCHINSON, Kan. – A 26-year-old man arrested Friday and jailed on a $1,172,500 bond for drug related charges made a court appearance via-video from the Reno County Jail Monday morning.
Jeremy Jiles has three cases pending for the alleged distribution of marijuana and now faces charges of possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to package drugs, possession of a personal use drug paraphernalia criminal possession of a weapon and possession of marijuana.
The arrest coming after Reno County Drug Unit detectives served a search warrant on his home in the 100 block of George Street. They allegedly found two vacuum sealed bags allegedly with marijuana. They also found a digital scale with marijuana residue on it, two gallon size ziplock baggies with green vegetation as well as additional new bags. They also allegedly found a pair of brass knuckles in a dresser drawer.
Because of the nature of the arrest, other pending cases and his past criminal history, this resulted in the high bond. In court, he was asked if he had any comments on the amount of the bond and he indicated that he didn’t, so for now it will stay the same.
One of the other cases against Jiles goes back on February 21. Drug Unit detectives did a search of his apartment back then and allegedly found a black backpack that contained over a pound of marijuana, a digital scale and new packaging materials. They also found a large quantity of cash in his dresser drawer.
In two other cases which goes back to September 20, and January 16, 2013. he allegedly had more then 450-grams of marijuana, as well as packaging materials in both.
Jiles will be back in court on July 9, for a status hearing over the latest arrest, while the other cases are still pending a preliminary hearing.
