HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The May unemployment rate edged up slightly from the previous month in both Hutchinson 
and Reno County.
The jobless rate in the city of Hutchinson was up two-tenths of 1 percent, at 4.5 percent. Nine hundred and twenty-nine residents out of a 20,840 workforce were out of work. The numbers in the county showed a jobless rate of 4.2 percent compared with 4.1 percent in April. There were 1,414 county residents out of work.
Both numbers are significantly less than the unemployment rates at this time last year when the jobless rate was 5.8 percent in the city and 5.4 percent in the county.
