The Rotary Club of Hutchinson awarded 600-dollars in scholarships to support kids who want to attend the Cosmosphere’s STEM-based Camp KAOS programs this summer and would not otherwise be able to.
Each year, the Hutchinson Rotary Club grants dollars to local organizations, with an emphasis on youth education and youth leadership. The mission of Rotary International is to provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through its fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders.
Camp KAOS, as a Cosmosphere program, is dedicated to the mission of honoring the past and inspiring the future of space exploration, with particular emphasis on nurturing future explorers. The life-changing camps benefit kids in a variety of ways.
For the 2013 camp season, the Camp KAOS scholarship program, which The Rotary Club of Hutchinson generously contributed to, has benefited 73 campers with assistance totaling $16,928.50.
The campers range in age from seven to 15, and come from Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Texas.
Scholarships for the 2013 camp season are still available for the Camp KAOS Mars Academy program. For information about Camp KAOS and how to apply for a scholarship, email camps@cosmo.org or call (620)665.9323 or (800)397.0330 x323.
