HUTCHINSON, Kan.— After a delay of nearly a week, the US-50 asphalt overlay project is under way.
Work began one mile east of Airport Road and they are currently milling off ½ inch of the old surface asphalt to prepare for the new asphalt overlay.
The work zones will be about two miles long through out the project with traffic controlled by a pilot car and flagmen. Drivers can expect delays of 15 minutes or less. Traffic on US-50 outside they work zone is open.
The work will move toward Newton as the surface is milled. After the surface is milled then the surface will be overlaid with asphalt, which will begin a work zone set up similar to the operation currently underway.
The renovation is expected to be completed in September.
