HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Reno County District Judge Joe McCarville announced he has filed for re-election for another term as judge for Division III.

McCarville says he has been honored to serve as a Judge since first being elected in 2004, and enjoys the challenge of the work and the opportunities to serve the people who come to court.

McCarville’s assignments include half of the felony criminal cases, all the civil protection from abuse or stalking cases, the cases heard inside the Hutchinson Correctional Facility and serving as judge of the Adult Drug Treatment Court.

He graduated from the Kansas New Judges Orientation in 2005, and the general course of the National Judicial College in Reno, Nevada in 2006. He attended National Drug Court training the last three years and the National Judicial Institute on Domestic Violence in April 2013. He helped to form the Reno County Drug Treatment Court which has operated since March 2011.

Judge McCarville explained that he’s filing for another term in order to continue what he considers the important work he began in his previous terms. He says he sees continuing work to improve how the court addresses domestic violence as a critical need. And helping to sustain the very successful drug court he considers an urgent need. He intends to give equal importance to ensuring that all the cases he is assigned move through the court to fair and prompt resolution. He takes steps to help parties and their attorneys to get cases resolved without wasted time or expense. He keeps his schedule open to be available for hearings on short notice.

McCarville says he has been grateful for the support he has received in the elections in 2004, 2006 and 2010 and pledges to continue to work hard for the people of Reno County every day if he is re-elected in 2014.
