HUTCHINSON – Two Hutchinson residents have been recognized with special awards from the Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland for their extraordinary service as volunteers.
Melissa Hinkle received the Volunteer of Excellence Award, which is given to Girl Scout volunteers who display excellent service in delivering the Girl Scout mission as they work directly with girls in a troop, camp or other activity.
Dana Hart received an Appreciation Pin for providing excellent service in delivering the Girl Scout mission but also for helping the council make an impact in a specific geographic area.
Hinkle and Hart are among the 85 volunteers being honored this month with awards from the Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland Council, which serves 80 counties in Kansas.
“Each and every day I am energized witnessing our many successes in building girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place,” said Liz Workman, CEO of Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland. “Our volunteers play a key part in our organization by serving in a myriad of important roles delivering Girl Scouting experiences to the girls across our council.
“They help Girl Scouts shine by encouraging them to raise their hands, take action, give back to their communities, and set their sights on the stars. We know that when girls are given the opportunity, they change the world!”
