A 38-year-0ld Hutchinson man was jailed after he allegedly stole one vehicle while allegedly breaking into another.
According to the Reno County Sheriff’s jail log, Zackary Ryan Tyler is accused of felony theft, burglary, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and identity theft.
According to Police Sgt. Rob Rowe, employees of Ramsey Oil in Hutchinson discovered one of their trucks stolen, but apparently located the vehicle in the 600 block of West 7th. Rowe says they found Tyler with the vehicle. He apparently also had items with him belonging to an employee of the company including an employees jacket he was allegedly wearing. That means he had to have broken into another vehicle at the company’s offices on West 4th.
Sgt. Rowe says the company has GPS devices in their trucks and that’s how they were able to locate the missing vehicle. He says police didn’t even know that a vehicle had been taken until they contacted them and informed them that they had located their missing truck and found the suspect sleeping in the bed of it.
Tyler allegedly had other property that didn’t belong to Ramsey Oil or any of their employees which means that he may have been involved with other crimes that could lead to additional charges.
Tyler has previous convictions for aggravated battery and DUI for cases going back to 2003.
Bond in the new case is set at 18-thousand dollars and unless he manages to post that bond, he should make a first appearance on the charges Wednesday morning.
