Reno County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to an injury accident a 1/2 mile west of Mayfield on 43rd. A passerby reported that a vehicle had gone off the side of the road and someone was trapped inside.
Officers arrived on scene and found a white 2005 Buick LeSaber had rolled onto it’s top in the south ditch. The driver was identified as 48-year-old Dean Riley of Hutchinson.
Riley says he was in a hurry and swerved to miss a deer. The driver was checked out by EMS at the scene. He complained of neck and back pain, but refused any further medical treatment. He was subsequently arrested for DUI and driving while suspended. Bond set at 750-dollars.
It’s believed that Riley was not wearing his seat-belt at the time of the accident.
