Harvest is still a few days away in Kansas with just some spotty test cutting in Kiowa County. Harvest in Reno County could begin in some areas by the end of the week. KSU Extension Cody Barilla says things should be picking up steam here shortly, as long as the weather cooperates.
Barilla says while the wheat crop is pretty much in shambles just to the west of the area, the harvest still looks good in Reno County, and areas to the south and east.
Like most years, the south central region of Kansas expects to be the largest wheat producer again this year.
