A 25-year-old Turon man is jailed after an domestic altercation with a woman in that city just after 1 a-m, Wednesday morning.
Tyler Truhlar was arrested for suspicion of aggravated battery, criminal threat and criminal damage.
The victim telling a Reno County Sheriff deputy that she got home around 10:30 p-m, Tuesday night and received a text from Truhlar asking if he could come over. She said “no.” She says she then heard a loud kick at her front door and he then entered the home. The two then began arguing and he then allegedly punched her several times, striking her on the left side of her face. He also allegedly struck her in the nose. He then allegedly started choking her and the victim says she hit him to get away. She says she ran outside to call 911 and he followed her and started calling her names and threatening to kill her, saying he didn’t care if he was going to jail. She says at some point, he kicked her in the ribs, pulled her hair and slammed the left side of her head into the pavement several times.
Truhlar told a deputy once arrested that he had been drinking at his house and sent a text to her to wish her a good night and she replied “thanks.” He says he then went to her home to see how her day had been going and to say goodnight. She apparently told him she was going to spend the next day with another man. He says he had just paid her cell phone bill and gave her 40-dollars toward her rent. He did admit striking her, but claims it was with an open hand and couldn’t remember how many times.
In court, he asked Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen to lower the 6-thousand, 750-dollar bond, but that was denied.
He’ll be back in court next Wednesday for a status hearing or whenever the state files formal charges.
