A 22-year-old Hutchinson man who ran against Jan Pauls for her legislative seat was back in court Wednesday afternoon as part of the waiver-status docket in front of Judge Joe McCarville.
Dakota Bass was arrested in the 200 block of East 10th, after he allegedly threatened 36-year-old Richard Steckly with the handgun around 5:20 p-m. He is charged with a single count of aggravated assault. This occurring back on January 20.
His attorney requested a preliminary hearing date which the judge set for April 7.
You may recall that Bass ran against Pauls as a liberal Republican back in November of 2012, but lost to her in the general election by a nearly 66% to 34% margin. Pauls is a conservative Democrat who has angered some over her opposition to gays.
