Two Hutchinson Public Schools programs will benefit from Hutchinson Community Foundation grants.
In grants announced on Sunday include the Hutchinson Magnet School at Allen receiving 600-dollars for supplies for its Lego Mosaic program. Hutchinson High School also received 450-dollars for scholarships for the International Baccalaureate Programme.
The Youth Philanthropy Council of the Hutchinson Community Foundation awarded $3,000 in grants from the Richard W. Dillon Memorial Fund for Youth Philanthropy during a ceremony Sunday.
The Council is comprised of 22 high school students from across Reno County. These youth have met for the last four months to discuss local issues of concern to youth, learn about philanthropy and grant making, and award grants to youth-serving organizations.
Members of the council included four from HHS — Dustin Curiel, Madi Graber, Dylan Graves and David Sotelo.
Hutchinson Community Foundation’s mission is to inspire philanthropy, collaboration and innovative leadership to strengthen our communities. Since 1989, the foundation has granted more than $60 million to organizations locally and around the world. The Community Foundation meets national standards for operational quality, donor service and accountability in the community foundation sector.
USD 308 also has a fund at the Hutchinson Community Foundation, the Hutchinson Public Schools Endowment Fund.
