The sentencing hearing for a man convicted in the killing of another man is scheduled once again for Friday afternoon.
21-year-old Isaac Beltran, who was facing a trial on charges of intentional second degree murder and criminal possession of a firearm, entered a plea to unintentional second degree murder. The state then dropped the firearm charge.
Beltran was convicted in the shooting death of 26-year-old Dustin Brooks in the alley behind the home where Beltran lived at 203 North Cleveland on Halloween night in 2012. Brooks suffered a gunshot wound to the torso and died after emergency surgery failed at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.
The sentencing hearing is scheduled in front of Judge Tim Chambers.
