A 31-year-old man already facing trial for aggravated battery was back in court Wednesday morning where he was read the formal charges in the latest case against him.

James “Jonathon Allen” Dean faces charges of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated burglary, aggravated battery and criminal possession of a firearm, in this case a Ruger SR9C 9mm, handgun.

In court, his new attorney Trevor Riddle requested a reduction of the bond saying he isn’t a flight risk or a danger to the community. Assistant District Attorney Andrew Davidson argued against it because of prior crimes. Interestingly, his pending case for allegedly stabbing a man was never brought up. Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen denied the request for a reduction of the 116-thousand, 500-dollar bond. He cited the fact that there was a 8-year-old child present when this latest incident occurred.

In this case, Dean is accused of going to a Hutchinson home on East 3rd upset that his girlfriends gun may have been stolen. He went to the home of 50-year-old David Crossman, where he allegedly entered the home uninvited, forced the victim from the home and then began beating him with a baseball bat. Dean was also struck by another individual.

In the case before Judge Trish Rose, she set another hearing for March 21.

For this new case, Magistrate Judge McEwen sent the case to Judge Joe McCarville as part of a waiver-status docket on March 19.
