Hutchinson Regional Medical Center has contracted with HealthStream, a Nashville, Tennessee based healthcare improvement firm, to conduct patient surveys in an effort to improve the healthcare experience.
Kevin Miller, F.A.C.H.E., President and CEO of Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System, said HealthStream will conduct random telephone interviews with selected patients soon after their discharge from the hospital.
According to Miller, the new method will provide more prompt feedback to the hospital compared to previous surveys, which were conducted by mail.
“Consequently, Hutchinson Regional Medical Center will be able to address issues more quickly and establish procedures and practices to improve the patient experience,” Miller said.
“The surveyors will seek feedback on everything from the attending physicians to staff communication and cleanliness of the facility,” Miller said. “Also, the surveys will help identify healthcare professionals that go above and beyond the call of duty in providing patient care.”
Miller said HealthStream is a highly respected organization and represents more than 1,100 healthcare facilities throughout the nation.
“Patient feedback is critical for all hospitals; so we sought the best available organization in the nation to undertake that responsibility for Hutchinson Regional Medical Center,” Miller said.
