Levar Simon 2

After being continued a number of times because of weather, a defendant in a drug sale case entered a plea Monday morning rather then face trial.

Levar Simon entered pleas to three cases, one for possession of cocaine with intent to sell within a thousand feet of a school, possession of synthetic marijuana with a prior conviction and no tax stamp. The case goes back to March 30, 2013.

Drug Unit detectives did a search of his home at 408 East Campbell and allegedly located on his person was white rocky substance that tested positive for crack cocaine in the amount of 15-grams. He also allegedly had a green vegetation on him. They also allegedly found another 6.4 grams of cocaine in the refrigerator of the home.

The other two cases include sale of cocaine, and use of a telephone to make drug sales. Apparently that led to controlled buys of cocaine at his home, both occurring on March 30, 2013.

Simon entered “no contest” pleas to all the charges with the understanding that the state would join the defense in recommending 7-years when sentencing occurs.

Judge Trish Rose set a tentative sentencing date for March 7.

Simon remains jailed on a 40-thousand dollar bond.
