Hutchinson Fireman responded to house fire at 512 North Jackson Sunday night where they found smoke and flames coming from the attic area.
The fire was under control in 45-minutes with units on scene for five hours. Damage was extensive throughout the residence and will most likely be a total loss.
The cause of the fire appears to be something electrical in the attic. The residence was occupied by 1-adult, but no one was injured.
Hutchinson Fire responded 9 units. Due to the construction of the residence, extensive labor was used to open up ceilings and walls. Extra personnel were brought to the scene to rotate out. Not all 9 units were at the scene at one time. The ceiling had a layer of plywood, then lathe and plaster which made access difficult for fire fighters.
Fire Fighters returned around 8:00 a-m, Monday morning for a small amount of smoke coming from the building. Firefighters found a very small spot in a downstairs wall. Units were on scene then for an hour.
Red Cross was called to assist the resident of the home.
