One of the two jury trials scheduled to begin earlier this week had been scheduled to begin Thursday according to Deputy District Attorney Tom Stanton. But he says he asked for another brief continuance in the case against Levar Simon till next Monday.
He says he still has concerns about the roads and doesn’t want a witness from the KBI office in Great Bend to have to travel the roads in the condition they’re in.
Simon is facing trial for possession of cocaine with intent to sell within a thousand feet of a school, possession of synthetic marijuana with a prior conviction and no tax stamp. The case goes back to March 30, 2013.
Drug Unit detectives did a search of his home at 408 East Campbell and allegedly located on his person a white rocky substance that tested positive for crack cocaine in the amount of 15-grams. He also allegedly had a green vegetation on him. They also allegedly found another 6.4 grams of cocaine in the refrigerator of the home.
He remains jailed on a 40-thousand dollar bond.
