A 27-year-old Hutchinson man who allegedly sold drugs twice to a confidential informants back in July was in court Monday morning where he entered “not guilty pleas to the charges against him.
Matthew Gulick is charged with selling methamphetamine on July 24 and the second on July 31, of last year. In both cases, they used to informants to make the buy. In the first case, he allegedly sold less then a half a gram to the officer, and the second time, it was just over 2 grams.
The first case is a level D-4, on the drug sentencing grid with a sentencing range of 14-to-51 months in prison. The second case is a level D-3, on the drug sentencing grid with a sentencing range of 46-to-83 month sentence. In the second case, Gulick is also charged with having no tax stamp which is a level 10, non-person felony with a sentencing range of 5-to-13 months in prison.
He also entered a “not guilty” plea to felony theft in a case that goes back to July of 2012. He allegedly stole items from K-Mart. Because of prior theft convictions, it is filed as a felony case.
Next step will be a pre-trial hearing in the coming weeks.
