The second suspect in a robbery case from back on March 30, of last year was granted probation during sentencing Friday after he earlier entered a plea on an amended charge of felony interference with law enforcement. Preston Riagoza had been charged with robbery and admitted in court to lying to law enforcement that he didn’t know what happened with the robbery.
Judge Joe McCarville sentenced him to 6-months in prison, but then granted 12-months probation. Raigoza told the judge, “I made a mistake and I’m ready to get it behind me.” Judge McCarville made a point of telling him that this is not a mistake like forgetting to return a library book. He says when asked questions by police, make sure you tell the truth.
The co-defendant, 26-year-old Robert Raigoza Jr., was granted 36-months community corrections on a 32-month underlying sentence after he entered a “guilty” plea to the robbery charge against him.
The two allegedly took a bank bag full of cash from an employee of the Dickinson Theaters at 1500 East 11th. The robbery allegedly occurring while an employee was at Central Bank & Trust at 1330 East 17th.
The two were arrested a short time later in the 2100 block of North Lorraine. The incident reported to police around 12:40 a-m, that Saturday morning.
