Kansas Senate Majority Leader Terry Bruce (R-Hutchinson) is proud to congratulate Katie Perez, a fourth-grade teacher at Morgan Elementary in Hutchinson, on being named a finalist for the 2014 Kansas Teacher of the year award. Perez was one of eight finalists statewide.
Senator Bruce said, “Kansas is blessed to have so many great teachers who care deeply for their students and their futures. I congratulate Katie on being named a finalist for Teacher of the Year and thank her for her service to the children of Hutchinson.”
Perez has been recognized by her colleagues for creating a positive relationship with each of her students in her daily interactions. One thing she promises her students is that if they do not give up on her, she will never give up on them. Her passion for being an educator is well known to her students and her colleagues at Morgan Elementary.
