About 5,100 Westar Energy customers were without power for about 45 minutes Thursday morning. The outage affected a large portion of the southwest and central parts of Hutchinson.
According to 911, most of the city’s traffic signals were out causing a few headaches for motorist in the early commute to work.
Westar officials says the outage started around 5:47 a-m, and most of the service was restored by 6:30.
The cause of the outage was a power line running between two sub stations which failed.
