Four teens were arrested early Thursday morning after a number of reports of burglaries were reported north of the city.
According Sheriff Captain Steve Lutz, the four were caught after they were seen trying to break into a classic car. The owner apparently heard some noise outside, looked out and saw the four messing around his vehicle. He then turned a light on, walked outside and scared them enough that they took off in their vehicle. He called dispatch and gave a description of the vehicle. It was then spotted in an area of 43rd & Monroe by a Hutchinson Police Officer. He then attempted to stop the vehicle. They eventually did stop and ran from the vehicle.
The teens consisted of a two 15-year-old’s, one a girl and one a boy. Then a 16 and 17-year-old boys were also allegedly involved. Lutz says they later located the girl walking down 43rd and one of the boys was hiding in nearby pasture. The other two boys were located at an area residence. This occurring around 4:30 a-m, Thursday morning.
Earlier, they four allegedly stole a golf cart from a residence, but got it stuck. It was abandoned and has since been released back to its owner.
The burglaries of mainly vehicles occurring in the area along Monroe at 56th and 69th, north of Hutchinson.
The teens will be prosecuted through juvenile court.
