HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Reno County Commission approved most of the items on its agenda Tuesday with the exception of whether to rebuild a bridge on Woodberry Road between 30th & 43rd, which runs along the Harvey County line.
County staff is recommending the closing of the old timber bridge because of safety issues. On average, only 28 vehicles use the bridge on a daily basis.
No decision was made Tuesday, but that could be decided at the meeting on July 5. This would come after the commissioners hold a meeting on the evening of June 29 up in Buhler.
The commission did approve the contract to Flint Hills Materials out of Cedar Point, Kansas, in the amount of just over $628,000 for the mill and overlay of Plum Street from 43rd north to 108th street. Because the bid was much lower than the $1 million estimate for the initial project, the commission also approved plans for a new overlay project for 56th Street between Monroe and old K-61 Highway.
The commission also approved the audit report for 2016 with Adams, Brown, Beran and Ball accountants, giving the county an “A” grade for the handling of its books and finances.
