HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Fire Department responded to 1311 N. Jefferson St. early Saturday for a residential fire. First arriving units reported heavy fire on the exterior front porch area and the interior of a single-story home.
Fire crews quickly controlled the fire and checked for fire extension into walls and attic space of the home.
The home was vacant at the time of the fire and is uninhabitable. “Even though the home was vacant, this fire serves as a good reminder to check your smoke detectors to ensure they are in working order” Battalion Chief Rex Albright said.
No injuries were reported. The Hutchinson Police department, Kansas Gas and Westar Energy assisted HFD.
Fire crews remained on scene for approximately 3 hours. The fire remains under investigation at this time.
