HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Public Schools Board of Education Monday approved a contract with Gary Price, who will be the superintendent of the school district for 2017-18.
Price will step in for the year while the district searches for a replacement for Dr. Shelly Kiblinger, who is
taking another job in the Cherryvale School District. Price served as USD 308 superintendent from 1995 to 2000, coming to the district from Hesston where he’d served as superintendent. Price returned to Hutchinson in 2014. His salary for the year will be $120,000 plus benefits.
Also Monday, the Board took the first steps to selling a home built by the Building Trades Program.
The home, at 2813 Morris on Hutchinson’s northwest side, was constructed by the Hutchinson Career and Technical Education Academy and Hutchinson Community College students during the 2016-17 school year. Each year, the program builds a single-family home. The home is sold and the proceeds are used to fund the home built the next year.
Based on market analysis, the asking price for the home will be $280,000.
