MCPHERSON, Kan. — Police in McPherson responded to a Facebook post about a door-to-door salesmen. The men were, at the least, forceful in their presentation and, at worst, potentially casing houses to commit crimes. Police made contact with the individuals and confirmed the group did not have the necessary peddler’s license to sell or distribute items in McPherson. The officer explained the requirement to the men and did not receive any additional reports afterward.
Police didn’t receive any reports of this group stealing or robbing from McPherson residents.
They say you should call 911 if it’s an emergency, otherwise use extreme caution when answering the door to strangers. You do not have to answer every knock or doorbell. Ask any door-to-door salesperson to see their permit to make sales and tell any salesperson you’re simply not interested.
When you see something, say something. Call police whether in McPherson or any other location.
