Reno County 911 took numerous calls Tuesday morning over the strong smell of natural gas which caused schools and other entities in South Hutchinson to take precautions.
The gas odor was first reported around 9:30, and sent fire and law enforcement officers out to find the source of the natural gas. It was determined that a rail car that was being loaded at the Oneoak gas facility west of town, suffered a leak which was quickly contained. There were no injuries reported and no fire. Crews were able to go back to normal operations after about 40 minutes.
