HUTCHINSON, Kan. — As if the grass fires weren’t enough, Hutchinson fire crews responded to a fire at Superior Boiler Works around 11 this morning.
According to reports, a forklift caught fire inside the south building. Crews arrived to find smoke showing from the facility’s overhead doors. Once inside, crews found the burning equipment and were able to extinguish it in about 15 minutes. The fire was confined to the forklift’s engine compartment. The business was occupied at the time of the fire, but everyone was able to evacuate safely and no injuries were reported.
The fire caused about $50,000 in damage.
