A 55-year-old Hutchinson man, well known to law enforcement saw his bond dropped from 75-thousand dollars to 50-thousand after he made a first appearance in District Court Monday.
Terry Young says he wasn’t sure what happened when he threatened to strike two neighbors with a baseball bat. He told Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen that he didn’t touch anyone. However, he allegedly used the bat to damage the neighbors property, including their home and vehicle.
Young is jailed on suspicion of two counts of aggravated assault and felony criminal damage to property.
Assistant District Attorney Andrew Davidson told the court the he thought the bond should stay where it is because of Young’s prior criminal history and also his failure to appear in other cases. Young told the court of his severe drug addiction during that time and that’s why he didn’t appear.
Young just recently got off of Community Corrections for drugs, flee and elude and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He’ll be back in court on Wednesday, once the state files formal charges.
