GREENWOOD COUNTY- A Hutchinson man escaped injury when the semi he was driving struck a disabled vehicle in the middle of the road that was involved in a fatality accident earlier.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reports that 61-year-old Robert Kirby, Jr., was westbound on U.S.400 twelve miles west of Fredonia, when he hit the disabled SUV about 9 p.m. That collision sent the vehicle into another SUV that was parked on the side of the road.
The fatality, which happened just minutes earlier, took two lives when the SUV driven by 54-year-old Donald Lank of Coffeyville crossed the centerline and hit a car driven by 19-year old Savannah Sickler of Osawatomie. Two passengers in Lanks vehicle, 16-year-old Jacob Reiner, and 24-year-old Matthew Reiner, were transported to the hospital in Springfield, Missouri.
Both accidents remains under investigation.
