HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Fire crews responded to the 600 Block of ElDorado for a reported structure fire.
The first arriving unit advised visible flames from the front of the home. They had the fire under control within minutes of arrival. Additional units remained on scene for approximately one hour.
The fire damage was contained to one bedroom of the home with an estimated $5000.00 in damage. The fire cause remains under investigation.
Then just after 9 p.m., fire units were called to the Northhampton Apartments at 2900 Acres Road for the report of smoke in one of the apartments. The resident and her son woke up to the smoke and then the alarms went off. She called the fire department and they determined that the air conditioning heating unit was the cause for the smoke.
The woman and her son spent the night at a different location.
There were no injuries at either location.
