The states failed effort to get Judge Joe McCarville to increase a Nickerson man’s bond now has District Attorney Keith Schroeder concerned the defendant may flee the jurisdiction.
Shanon Patrick Williams is now charged with 5-counts, three of which falls under Jessica’s Law and includes inappropriate touching of his autistic daughter.
Schroeder in a motion to the court had indicated that his office had received new information suggesting that the defendant is an extreme flight risk, should he post bond. Schroeder says that Williams has numerous overseas contacts who he had allegedly e-mailed child porn. Plus says Schroeder, he also had plans to move his family to Washington State.
Schroeder wanted his bond increased from 125-thousand to 500-thousand dollars. Schroeder also requested that there be no contact with any child under the age of 18. He also wanted the defendant to have to wear a house arrest bracelet. Judge McCarville denied the request for a bond increase, but did place the defendant on bond supervision and ordered that he wear a house arrest ankle bracelet.
Apparently, Williams was able to post the 125-thousand dollar bond and is free. Schroeder is now fearful that he will flee the jurisdiction and never be seen again.
The case starts with the sheriff’s office apparently assisted Immigration and Custom Enforcement Agents with a search of his residence at 103 S. Paine.
The case has to do with him taking pictures of his 13-year-old autistic child and then distributing the photos including overseas.
He is scheduled for a hearing on the case later this month.
