HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A Hutchinson man entered a plea in a flee and elude case Friday while the state dropped the charges in another case.
Zachary Thompson entered a plea to felony flee and elude, interference with law enforcement and driving while suspended.
He was stopped by an officer in the 1000 block of Cochran on a traffic issue for going through construction barricades while on a moped, but then fled the scene.
He was later arrested in the 700 block of East 10th. He apparently struck a parked vehicle on East 10th.
In another case, he was also charged with flee and elude and interference with law enforcement. This case goes back to April 17 of this year. That involved him allegedly running from a South Hutchinson Police officer. The state, as part of a plea agreement, dropped this case Friday.
Thompson was at one time accused of “abuse of a child,” in a case from 2011, but entered a “no contest” plea to an amended charge of aggravated battery.
Thompson has also served time for attempted aggravated robbery, while the state dropped the second charge of aggravated assault. He was also convicted of aggravated battery for a case where he allegedly struck someone with a board. Those cases are also from 2011.
With him entering a plea, he’ll be sentenced on June 24 by Judge Tim Chambers.
