HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 34-year-old man arrested on Nov. 9, 2015, in association with a stabbing incident in Hutchinson is scheduled to be sentenced Friday.
Derrick Sciafe had entered a plea to a reduced charge of burglary and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon back in February.
The victim in the case, 35-year-old Amado Martinez, was allegedly stabbed by Sciafe after an altercation at a west side Hutchinson home. The victim walked away from the home where the stabbing occurred, got onto a stretcher and was transported to the hospital for treatment.
Martinez is the boyfriend of Sciafe’s ex-wife and he apparently left after the stabbing. He went to McPherson, where he was arrested.
Sciafe is free on a $38,000 bond and the sentencing is scheduled for Friday in front of District Judge Trish Rose.
