The 34-year-old Hutchinson woman who was taken to jail late Saturday after she allegedly fled law enforcement appeared via-video Monday morning for a first appearance.
Terra Jenson faces charges of flee and elude, avoiding a tire deflation device, criminal damage,. Driving while suspended and interference with law enforcement.
In court, she claims that she was being held at gun-point during the incident, but according to sheriff officials, she was the only one located in the area.
It started around 10:40 p-m, when deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused to stop and the chase was on lasting approximately four miles. Stop sticks were deployed at one point, but the driver avoided them by driving through a yard of a residence and proceeded through a bean field. The vehicle then stopped behind a grove of trees in that field. When officers got to the vehicle, it was unoccupied.
About 90-minutes later, a female attempted to flee from the area and was captured by deputies. She was identified as Jenson. They continued to search the area with the assistance of a K-9 unit and no one else was found.
Bond in the this case set at 3-thousand, 500-dollars. Judge Trish Rose lowered it to 25-hundred, but jenson also has another bond of 20-thousand for other issues.
She’ll be back on court once the state files formal charges.
