HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 54-year-old Hutchinson man bound over for trial for the armed robbery of Dollar General back in October was scheduled to be arraigned on the charges Monday morning, but Leroy Randall informed Judge Tim Chambers that he wanted to be in court for that hearing.
Randall is charged with two counts of kidnapping and one count of aggravated robbery and two counts of aggravated assault.
The judge started to do the arraignment with Randall still in the Reno County Correctional Facility, but because he wanted to do it in person and not by video from the county facility, Judge Chambers agreed to continue the hearing until Friday.
The case starts with a store employee reporting that she heard a knock at a back office door. Thinking it was the other employee she was working with, she opened the door and a black male came in the store, stuck a gun in her face and demanded money. She screamed, causing the other employee to come out of the bathroom. Randall then allegedly pointed the gun at him as well. Both testified at the preliminary hearing to being scared. In fact, one thought that when the gunman took them to the bathroom and made them lay face down, that he was going to shoot them.
During the robbery, Randall allegedly got away with over $5,480.
He remains jailed on a bond of $125,000.
