HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 23-year-old Wichita man involved in an accident here in Reno County where his passenger was injured was scheduled to be sentenced Friday, but that has been delayed over a drug and alcohol evaluation that was apparently completed.

Jacob Rucker was convicted of the single charge and both sides are recommending a year and six months community corrections on an eight month underlying sentence.

Judge Rose wants to see the evaluation before sentencing, but his attorney didn’t have it with him, so the judge continued the sentencing until April 1.

The crash occurred in the 11000 block of East 4th back on Aug. 13, 2014.

His passenger, Elizabeth Fanning of Wichita, was taken to a Wichita hospital. Rucker was also injured and was taken to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.

Sheriff officials were dispatched to the report of the roll-over accident. The reporting party advised a male and a female arrived on their doorstep and asked to use a phone. They said they had been involved in an accident, but did not know where the vehicle was.

Deputies made contact with Rucker and discovered that he was eastbound on 4th when he ran the stop sign at 4th and Buhler Road. He then lost control of the vehicle and rolled it several times into a field on the south side of the road. He could not remember what happened and could only say they were headed to Wichita.
