A 34-year-old Hutchinson woman was taken to jail late Saturday after she fled law enforcement in a Ford Explorer.
It started around 10:40 p-m, according to Reno County Sheriff officials when deputies attempted to stop the tan Ford Explorer, but the driver fled the deputies with the chase lasting approximately four miles.
Stop sticks were deployed, but the driver avoided them by driving through a yard of a residence and proceeded through a bean field. The vehicle then stopped behind a grove of trees in that field. When officers got to the vehicle it was unoccupied.
Deputies from the Sheriff’s department and officers from the Kansas Highway Patrol quickly established a perimeter around the trees. Air support was supplied by the highway patrol and tracking dogs were called from the Kansas Department Of Corrections.
Approximately 90-minutes into the incident, a female attempted to flee from the area and was captured by deputies. A search of the area was then conducted with the assistance of a K-9 unit and no one else was found.
The female was identified as Terra L. Jensen from Hutchinson.
Jensen was charged with flee and elude, interference with law enforcement, driving on a suspended license and criminal damage to property. She was also arrested on several outstanding warrants from other counties.
Bond in the local case set at 23-thousand, 500-dollars.
