HUTCHINSON, Kan. – A 42-year-old man is jailed with a bond of $21,500 after his arrest by Hutchinson Police for allegedly having a distribution amount of cocaine.
Eric Rychlec was arrested by police in the 400 block of East 30th Thursday morning. A woman spotted him in the Genesis Health Club parking lot and thought he was acting strange. He was at times sleeping in a vehicle and would then get out and start dancing. She spotted a police officer in the old Dillons parking lot and went and told the officer about the man.
The officer approached the vehicle found him asleep and saw what appeared to be a white powdery substance on a hat he had on his knee as well as his pants. That led to a search of his vehicle where they allegedly found pill bottles each containing suspected cocaine. They also allegedly found 48 Oxycodone pills and $613.00 in cash. He claimed that none of the drugs were his and told officers that they belonged to a friend. The cocaine weight coming to around 15 grams.
In addition to the cocaine charge, he also faces possible charges of possession of Oxycodone with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia and no tax stamp. The paraphernalia being a cut straw.
Rychlec has been on intensive supervision in Reno County by the Kansas Department of Corrections for convictions from 2014 in Ellis County for possession of drugs and assault.
He’ll be back in court on March 18, to see what charges the state files against him for this latest arrest.
