HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Reno County Sheriff deputies were dispatched to an injury accident with a vehicle on fire in the area of 4th and Rayl Rd.
When deputies arrived, they found a single vehicle off the south side of the road fully engulfed in flames. Deputies made contact with 56-year-old Donald Jost of Newton.
Jost said he was westbound on 4th in his vehicle when he lost control of his vehicle and it left the roadway where it struck the ditch embankment. The vehicle then traveled off the roadway striking a post, small tree, and a barbed wire fence. The vehicle then caught fire.
Jost was able to free himself from the vehicle and was transported by Burton EMS to St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita for burns to his head, back, and arms.
Crews from Burrton Fire, EMS, and Hutchinson Fire assisted with accident which occurred around 10:15 a.m.
