HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The Kansas Department of Labor Friday released the Jan. jobs report which showed Hutchinson had an unemployment rate of 4.9 percent, up from 4.1 percent in Dec. of last year, but lower then the 5.2 percent in Jan. of 2015.
The rate in Reno County is at 4.7 percent, also up from the 3.8 percent in Dec. and slightly lower then the 4.8 percent in Jan. of 2015.
There were 1,442 residents of the county listed as unemployed in Jan., most of those in the city of Hutchinson.
The increase felt in Reno County seems to be the trend in the area for that month with all the surrounding counties also seeing an increase.
The state’s Jan. seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 4.0 percent. This was unchanged from Dec. and decreased from 4.3 percent in January 2015, according to the Department of Labor.
