Reno County Courthouse 2

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The County Commission is moving ahead with the building of a secure entrance to courthouse, approving the contract with Mann and Company Architects for doing the design work for that entrance at a cost of $26,100.

The estimated cost for this project is between $250,000 and $300,000 dollars and we could see the bids going out in a month or two.

Meanwhile, they’re also working on new bids for renovation of the law enforcement center including the old jail which will be used as an evidence storage facility for law enforcement.

The commission also approved replacing the chassis for EMS on one of their units at a cost to just under $126,000, which they estimate will save the county about $40,000. County Administrator Gary Meagher noted that Hutchinson Regional will pay for the cost and the county will reimburse them for that cost. He doesn’t expect to see a bill until this time next year, but they will use funds from this years budget to pay those cost.

The commission also approved the purchase of a couple of items for public works. That includes a remote control trench roller at a cost of $24,700 and a Tandem Vibratory Steel Roller at a cost of $116,425. Both will be purchased from Foley Equipment of Wichita.
