BUHLER, Kan. – State Representative Steve Becker posted on Facebook that he’s been the target of a mass mailing from Americans for Prosperity criticizing his support for expanding health care coverage.
Becker says he has been asked why he’s being targeted so early in the election year and says he thinks the answer is simple. Americans for Prosperity, the Kansas Chamber of Commerce and other like-minded organizations have the same complaint about him that his teachers in the Buhler schools had over 50 years ago, he just doesn’t follow directions very well.
He says he often receives instructions from these non-constituent organizations on how to vote or risk not receiving their endorsement. He says it happened last week when they wanted him to support changing the method of selecting Supreme Court Justices.
Becker says he prefers to take my guidance from those closer to his home, that being his constituents!
Becker represents the 104th District which includes parts of Hutchinson and the Buhler area.
