HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 42-year-old Hutchinson man is jailed after he ran from Reno County Sheriff Deputies Sunday evening.
They apparently spotted Shane Tooker walking in the 1700 block of West 4th and stopped to talk with him. He gave a name of John, which wasn’t true. They then found out his real name and learned he had a warrant out of South Hutchinson. Tooker then allegedly took off and led deputies on a short foot chase and at some point, threw items as he was trying to get over a fence. That turned out to be methamphetamine, according to deputies.
Tooker faces charges of interference with law enforcement, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and indirect contempt.
During a court appearance via video, he was told of the potential charges and then asked for a bond reduction. Magistrate Judge Cheryl Allen agreed to lower it from $14,000 to $7,000 and set another hearing in the case for Feb. 8.
Tooker had served time in prison on drug charges for a case going back to 2010.
