HUTCHINSON, Kan. — One of two suspects in a home invasion case out of South Hutchinson was bound over for trial Wednesday after they finished the preliminary hearing.
The state managed to get some more charges included against Jesse Aich. That included another count of aggravated assault and two counts of aggravated burglary. The new count of aggravated assault against Aich is for allegedly threatening his co-defendant, 32-year-old Charles Swepston. There was testimony Wednesday that indicated that he may have fired in the direction of Swepston that same morning.
Other charges include two counts of attempted aggravated robbery, two other counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, criminal discharge of a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm, possession of methamphetamine, marijuana and five different prescription drugs, all with intent to distribute, and possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to distribute drugs.
Aich and Swepston were arrested for the incident that happened early in the morning on Friday, July 31, 2015.
South Hutchinson police were called to a home at 3:45 that morning and were told two men had forced their way inside and demanded money and valuables. The two victims reportedly fought with the intruders before Aich allegedly left and came back with a handgun, firing twice, but not hitting anyone. This may be over a drug debt, according to statements made in court.
Aich has another case pending trial in front of Judge Trish Rose. That case also involves drugs.
With Aich being bound over with the added charges included, he’ll be arraigned in the case next week.
