HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Fire Crews responded to the 200 block of East 11th for a reported structure fire here in Hutchinson.
Arriving units found a two-story home with heavy smoke coming from the rear of the structure with no visible flames. The occupants of the home were outside when units arrived and advised fire crews where the fire was located.
With the location of the fire and extension to two separate levels of the home, crews had the fire under control in about 30 minutes, with an on-scene time of two hours for salvage and overhaul procedures.
Investigation, along with the occupant’s description, put the cause of the fire to an overloaded circuit that was powering a space heater. The damage is estimated at $30,000.
No injuries were reported.
