HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 27-year-old man arrested back in November for drugs and an altercation with law enforcement is back in jail after he was arrested by police for more felony charges.
Killian Craig was arrested Saturday evening for felony possession of stolen property, possession of methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Police recovered a vehicle reported stolen on Dec. 28, that being a 2007 Chrysler Aspen, in the 1100 block of North Poplar.
His bond on the latest charges is at $8,000 and he asked for reduction of that bond while appearing before Magistrate Judge Cheryl Allen, which was denied. During that same hearing, he denied that he was in possession of the vehicle or that the drugs were his.
His other case involves felony battery of a law enforcement officer, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and interference with law enforcement, where he allegedly hid from officers and resisted arrest.
Apparently, officers went to a residence in the 500 block of East 9th where Craig was staying to serve warrants for his arrest. He allegedly left out a back door, ran from officers, but was quickly captured. He then allegedly fought them as they were trying to take him into custody and allegedly struck an officer during the altercation, injuring that officer. Police also allege that he was in possession of drugs at the time of his arrest.
That case is still pending in District Court and he’ll be back in court next week to see if the state has filed formal charges.
