HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A Hutchinson man charged with first-degree murder was bound over for trial Tuesday morning after the preliminary hearing resumed.
Brennan Trass is accused in the shooting death of 24-year-old Jose Morales, who was found on the floor of a residence back on Aug. 17 with multiple gunshot wounds. He died about 90 minutes later at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.
Judge Trish Rose found there was probable cause to send the case to trial on the murder charge, but didn’t find that there was enough evidence for him to be bound over on a charge of criminal possession of a firearm.
The hearing went into recess earlier because of a video that the defense apparently didn’t have. They wanted time to review it. But as the hearing resumed, they apparently decided they didn’t need it after all, so the hearing was fairly brief.
Brennan will be arraigned on the murder charge on Monday.
