Man charged in two drug distribution cases enters plea

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – A 33-year-old man facing charges associated with the distribution of drugs for case going back to 2012 and 2013 was before Judge Trish Rose Monday where he entered pleas to both cases.

Brice Reed in one case entered pleas to possession of cocaine within a thousand feet of a school, possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to distribute possession of marijuana with a prior conviction and no drug tax stamp. He was busted on Dec. 27, 2012 for having more then 3.5 grams, but less then 100 grams of cocaine. He was also in possession of the marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

In the other case, he faced one charge for the sale of drugs for a case that goes back to Sept. 10, 2013.

At one time the state had also charged him with racketeering, however as part of the agreement, the state dropped that charge. That according to Deputy District Attorney Tom Stanton.

Judge Rose set sentencing for Feb. 12 and with prior convictions for criminal possession of a firearm for a case from April of 2007 and a burglary conviction for case that goes back to Oct. 2003, that will count against him at sentencing.
